We follow the Birth to Five Matters Curriculum, which is a child-centred approach and compliments your child’s learning with their play ethos. The Birth to Five Matters goes hand in hand with a ‘Curiosity Approach’ to learning, which fits perfectly in current changing technological times. Bringing curiosity, awe and wonder into early childhood & creating the ‘thinkers & doers’ of the future. The Curiosity approach is about using natural, ‘real life’ resources to allow children to blend visual stimulation with calming natural colours, to encourage exploration whilst developing mindfulness. Children are immersed in inspiring, calming environments where their innate curiosity can flourish.
Our natural environment and resources aim to encourage exploration and invite children to play while developing mindfulness. They are encouraged to make, theorise, and deconstruct, in stark contrast to some educational philosophies that draw rigid boundaries and preconceived findings. The Curiosity Approach places children at the heart of the learning process, and provides them with innumerable opportunities to explore, imagine, and create, where children are celebrated for their process rather than the final results.
Within our safe environment and free-flow indoors to outdoors, it allows our children freedom to follow their own lines of enquiry and areas of interests. The benefits of outdoor learning in Early Years is firmly recognised for young children’s learning development. Simply being outdoors in the fresh air for three hours a day benefits learning, wellbeing, health and social and emotional development. We aim to spend as much time as possible exploring and having fun in our outdoor surroundings.
The children will become experts in season changes, insects and birds, become natural leaders as they design and build dens, explore personal risk, play games, listen to stories outside and so much more!
Little Acers Preschool is passionate about ensuring that all children reach their full potential through play and transition to school with nothing but happy memories, a love of learning and a strong sense of community.
